Laura Rae Bernasconi is a dancer, choreographer, certified AcroYoga (acrobatics, partner yoga, Thai massage) teacher since 2008 and a Hatha Yoga teacher (in the Sivananda tradition) since 1991. Laura has been an international docent to professional dancers since 1984 (Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Carte Blanche). She also teaches wellness classes and is a certified Shi’atsu Therapist. Using principals of the Alexander Technique, Feldenkreis, and Gyrokenisis, meditation and mindfulness, Laura focuses on individual attention to each student.
Everybody is welcome to this AcroYoga series! The workshop will be designed in the moment to challenge the most advanced AcroYogi, while still making the class accessible and playful to complete beginners. You will learn enough in one class to take it back home to your friends and family!
AcroYoga combines the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form the foundation of a unique practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness, along with healing, opening and strengthening that one might not find in his or her regular training. Participants will find new ways to build a deep, inner core strength, discover how to create more space in the joints and obtain the skills to generate a powerful flow of energy and increased body awareness.
The workshop will focus on passive and therapeutic sides of AcroYoga – including gravity defying flying yoga, Thai massage as well as more dynamic exercises and acrobatic sequences.
Laura’s ballet class is rejuvenating, healing, repairing and uplifting. The objective is that the dancer feels better in body, mind and spirit after class, as if having just had a therapeutic healing session. As a result, the dancer has a neurological response of peace, equipoise and a closer reach to homeostasis, or balanced health.

In this masterclass, we will approach ballet in a healthful way. We will explore energetic patterns and becoming a witness to our thoughts. The technique of Ballet Bernasconi stems from principles and concepts of Alexander technique, Martial arts, Feldenkrais, the Ilan Lev Method, Gyrotonic and gyrokinesis, Yoga and Acrobatics, Chinese acupuncture meridian system, Sports psychology, Odissi Classical Indian Dance, Yogic cleansing and laughter practices, eye movement patterns and breath awareness.
Wellness and Massage
When one is able to achieve the highest level of health (homeostasis) in body, mind and spirit, one’s physical power strengthens, our focus sharpens, and our awareness of who we are to ourselves and to others deepens. Through daily practice of self-healing, self-awareness, daily journaling (a process to transform negative thoughts, feelings and history into a positive, progressive and empowering action), verbalizing affirmations, our confidence grows, the body/mind connection thrives and a sense of wholeness of person ignites into fiery passion. As an added result and benefit thereof, the ego (stemming from insecurity) decreases and dissipates and inner peace prevails.
With the supportive powers of our peers who can be taught to uplift and enhance our strengths while recognizing our weaknesses bring more compassion, empathy and nurturing from others. Learning the idea of “mudita” (vicarious joy), also encourages others to do well, succeed and go forth with fortitude and courage to break boundaries, think outside the box and create our innermost personal desires, passions and aspirations.
